Automatically disabling Price Genius in case of downlift

Price Genius has a built-in safety mechanism that automatically disables it in case it produces downlift (negative uplift) on particular ad unit.
In order for this feature to work, you must have all ad units defined in the Yieldbird Platform. Otherwise, Yieldbird will not be able to generate different key value targeting for ad units that get automatically switched to
standby mode
.How does it work?
- We monitor the results of Price Genius on each ad unit independently on a daily basis.
- If the uplift drops below 0, Price Genius will automatically switch to
standby mode
: - The Exploration part will remain as is, meaning we will continue to gather data and calculate optimal prices.
- The Optimization part, which handles 90% of the traffic, will automatically receive the publisher’s pricing rules.
- The ad unit will remain in
standby mode
until Price Genius starts predicting prices that render rCPM higher than the publisher’s pricing strategy: - Technically, we modify the key value split within Price Genius's traffic as follows:
- 10% remains in Exploration (gets key values yb_ab=a0,a1,…a9)
- 90% gets key value yb_ab=C in order to be handled with the publisher’s pricing rules (for more information on retargeting rules for benchmarking, see Creating Unified Pricing Rules).
Attention: This feature only works when all GAM ad units (ad unit paths to the lowest child level) are added to the platform. This is because Price Genius relies on GAM data and is limited by the reportability of that data.
