Get started with Prebid Stack

Implementation overview
This is the recommended order, but you can complete these steps in any sequence if you prefer.
1. Verify Default Settings
Ensure that default Prebid settings align with how you want to configure most of your Inventory. In the Yieldbird Platform, default settings apply to all Domains by default but can be customized per Domain if needed. Setting these correctly upfront saves time on manual adjustments later.
To review and adjust these settings, go to: Global Setup > Prebid > Defaults.
Good practice: Set Default Prebid Settings to reflect how you intend Prebid to behave on most of your Domains. Then, customize settings only for specific Domains as needed.
2. Define Media Types & Sizes
Decide whether each Ad Unit should serve Banners, Video (Outstream or Instream), or Native creatives. You can also configure Media Types to adapt based on viewport resolution.
3. Set Up Prebid Delivery Items in GAM
Prebid Stack requires implementation in Google Ad Manager (GAM). This includes creating an Advertiser, Orders, Line Items, and Creatives in your GAM. These must be set up separately for:
- Banner & Outstream Video
- Instream Video
- Native
Alternatively, you can enable Header Bidding Trafficking (requires GAM 360 & supports only selected Bidders).
4. Configure Bidders
Set up Bidder accounts or request access to Yieldbird Bidder accounts. For Own Bidder accounts, add the required bid parameters for relevant Ad Units. For Yieldbird Bidder accounts, this setup is handled by the Yieldbird team.
5. Configure Additional Prebid Modules
Set up Prebid Modules that can enhance Prebid performance and functionality. They fall into three categories:
- General Prebid Modules – do not require any special accounts and can be enabled directly.
- User ID Modules, Vendor-Specific (RTD) Modules, and Analytics Adapters – always require separate accounts. However, for some of them, a Yieldbird account can be requested.
6. Monitor Performance
Especially in the first days or even hours after implementation, closely monitor performance. We recommend using data from both Prebid Analytics in the Yieldbird Platform and Google Ad Manager (GAM) reporting to ensure everything runs smoothly.
7. Experiment & Optimize
Optimization is an ongoing process. Use A/B testing and automatic optimization features in the Yieldbird Platform to improve Prebid efficiency.
