What are ad networks?

Ad networks are treated as third parties with whom, as a publisher, you may have a direct collaboration.
What is the purpose of the feature ?
The main purpose of ad networks is to benefit from their bidders (SSPs), in 2 ways:
- You use an ad network that provides you with their own bidders. Meaning it’s a 1st rank ad network e.g. Publisher > Ad network > Bidder
- You use multiple ad networks in a hierarchical manner, e.g. Publisher > Ad network 1 >Ad network 2 > Bidder or Publisher > Ad network 1 > Bidder + Publisher > Ad network 2 > Bidder For this use case, you can actually add as many ad networks as you wish. There will be 2nd or higher rank ad networks.
How to use it?
In order to see Ad Networks in the interface, you need to contact your Customer Success Manager that will activate the feature for you.
Declare ad networks
Go in Prebid Stack > Setup > Ad Networks:
And then <Add new>. You can add as many networks as you want. For each ad network, you need to define its name identifier and the ASI (for Supply Chain a.k.a Schain matters).
Declare a bidder as coming from a 1st rank ad network
Go in Prebid Stack > Setup > Bidders > Own bidders and edit the bidder from which you are benefiting through an ad network. Then for relationship, choose {Ad network} and choose the applicable ad network.
You will see in the Own bidders table:
Declare a bidder as coming from a 2nd rank (or further) ad network
As before, go in Prebid Stack > Setup > Ad Networks and edit the bidder from which you are benefiting through an ad network. Then for relationship, choose {Ad network} and select the applicable ad networks in the right order.
For example:
In the above example, it is the Ad network 2 that has the direct relationship with the bidder, and the Ad Network 1 will be called first. The connection would be as: Publisher > Ad network 1 > Ad network 2 > Bidder
In the above use case the schain will be as follows:
{
bidders: ['bidder code'],
config: {
schain: {
validation: 'relaxed',
config: {
ver: '1.0',
complete: 1,
nodes: [
{ asi: 'ad network 1 asi', sid: 'ad network 1 sid', hp: 1 },
{ asi: 'ad network 2 asi', sid: 'ad network 2 sid', hp: 1 }
]
}
}
}
}
Then you will see it as such in your Own bidders table:
Declare a bidder from several ad networks.
Same configuration as Declare a bidder as coming from a 2nd rank (or further) ad network.
